The UK formally left the EU on 31st January 2020. During the transition period until 31st December 2020, previous bilateral agreements between CH and the EU (including UK) were still in force. From 1st January 2021, these agreements were replaced by the so-called “Mind the Gap” strategy in order to maintain trade facilitation. This strategy aims at replicating the majority of the previous trade easements. Subsequently, customs formalities need to be conducted based on the new trade arrangements between CH and UK.
